Nayeli Maxson Velazquez is a community organizer, ecosystem builder, and public interest lawyer. Nayeli has organized with national, regional, and local campaigns in California and Nevada, most recently acting as a Regional Organizing Director for the Warren for President campaign.

Prior to joining the Warren campaign, Nayeli was the executive director and CEO of the Alliance for Community Development of the San Francisco Bay Area, a community organization founded in 1999 to empower local residents and increase equitable access to capital for local, diverse entrepreneurs and visionaries. During her tenure with the Alliance, Nayeli launched an ecosystem-building campaign, building a regional membership organization of 250+ values-aligned organizations and individuals.

Her additional experience includes working for: elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels; a small San Francisco-based law office; and a woman-run innovation consulting firm. 

She holds a Juris Doctor from UC Hastings College of the Law, with a double concentration in Government Law and Social Justice Law, and is California bar certified. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz, a Certificate of French Fluency from Universite de la Sorbonne, and a Certificate of Intermediate Spanish from Guatemala’s Ixchel Spanish School. Furthermore, she is a graduate of the Coro Center for Civic Leadership’s Public Affairs Fellowship and of the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership program and is the former Vice Chair of the City of Oakland’s Ethics Commission.

Nayeli is a mother of two, a lifelong Bay Area resident, and the daughter of a public school teacher and an immigrant from Mexico. She cares deeply about economic and social empowerment and is committed to creating a more just, equitable, regenerative world. She enjoys serving the community and engaging in collaborative, shared leadership.
