KCRW: Interview with CDER’s Thomas Linzey in “Defending the rights of nature: A new approach to save the planet”

A new perspective on legal rights

Thomas Linzey, Senior Counsel for CDER was a recent guest on the podcast Good Food hosted by Evan Kleiman on KCRW. In the interview, they discuss the new and powerful ways that the law is being utilized to protect our planet. Through the advancement of the “rights of nature” the legal system has taken shape to prevent the destruction of ecosystems.

This has been an ongoing process. As Linzey explains in the interview:

“The law has to go through a transformation,” Linzey says. “That evolution has to be shifting from nature as a thing, to nature as an animated entity capable of holding rights.”
