In Massachusetts, the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights is partnering with a grassroots group in the Town of Great Barrington on a local law that would recognize waterways within the Town as having legally enforceable rights.

The Center is also partnering with several groups in southeastern Massachusetts to advance rights of nature laws that would protect the pine barrens ecosystem, coastal bays, and horseshoe crab populations.

The Center will be opening a Training Academy for rights of nature and community rights activists at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in the summer of 2022.
