CBS: Legislation that provides nature the same rights as humans gains traction in some countries

On December 9th, 2023, Ben Tracy and Kerry Breen aired a story on CBS Saturday Morning about rights of nature laws in Panama.

The Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights (CDER) provided background for the story, which focused on the growing rights of nature movement. The story focused on the rights of nature law in Panama, under which the Supreme Court there recently ruled against a mine that threatened jungle and water ecosystems. This ruling follows similar rights of nature rulings in Ecuador and other countries, which elevate the status and protection of nature.
